It’s smaller than a normal bacterium in its size and in the size of its genome. Long story short, it’s a weird bacterium that can be tough to find and sequence.

Cleaning Procedures
During the day, the floors are vacuumed and mopped with bleach water. Fecal matter is bagged throughout the day and hosed with water in the outdoor area.
Once a week, all spaces are cleaned with a Quaternary Disinfectant Cleaner that kills bacteria, fungi, mildew, and viruses including, but not limited to, Canine distemper Virus, Rabies Virus, Adenovirus, Hepatitis Virus, Coronavirus, RSV, and Bordetella bronchiseptica.
When we get a call reporting an illness, we quat clean all indoor spaces and beds that evening to ensure our physical facility isn’t hosting germs. We alert dog owner’s to potential exposure by sending home an information sheet.
Water Bowl Procedures
There are three or more communal water bowls throughout our daycare. They are emptied and refilled several times; and scrubbed with soap or bleached three times a day.
Feeding Procedures
Each family unit is fed individually in our feed room. If there’s only 1 dog in the family, that dog will be fed by themselves. If dogs have siblings, they will come back together.
After feeding, each stainless steel bowl is hand-washed after every feeding. For dogs that need to use slow-feeders, those dishes are also hand-washed after every feeding.
What happens if a dog starts to show symptoms of illness while at K-9 Kingdom?
If the dog is attending Daycare, we contact the family via phone call or text. Sometimes we send a picture, if we think it’s something that is easier to see. We move the dog into a separate room, typically our grooming room, until the family can pickup the dog.
If the dog is boarding with us, we contact the family via phone call or text. We temporarily move the dog into a separate room, typically our grooming room; then we move the dog to a quarantine spot at K-9 Kingdom owner’s residence. At the residence, her husband works from home, so the dog can be monitored 24 hours a day, just like at K-9 Kingdom. If the family has someone in town that they would prefer to take care of their dog, we will work with them to make that transfer.
If the dog needs to go to the vet, we prefer to work with the customer’s vet because they have the dog’s medical records; K-9 Kingdom will handle transporting the dog to/from the vet, customer is responsible for paying the vet’s charges.
